How to boost user efficiency in NAV 2018

The release of Dynamics NAV 2018 introduced numerous core application enhancements delivering a more user-friendly experience. Find out how NAV 2018 can help boost your user efficiency.

The release of Dynamics NAV 2018 introduced numerous core application enhancements delivering a more user-friendly experience. Microsoft continue to push simplicity throughout their product offerings, enabling organisations to quickly adopt new solutions, in turn, boosting user efficiency. Below our team of experts have put together their picks for updates, that they believe will be of significant value for SMEs.

Here are our NAV 2018 top picks for improving user efficiency.

Workspace personalisation

Built directly into Dynamics NAV is the new personalisation tool, this allows users to customise pages to show relevant information for their role and conceal nonessentials. What does this include? Through the web browser, users are able to view and modify data to show relevant content such as columns, fields, FactBoxes, and KPIs. Changes made are immediately saved and can be accessed across multiple devices.

User tasks enhancements

Users can create tasks offering reminders for when work needs to be done, there is also the option to assign tasks to others. The Role Centre shows outstanding tasks which can be linked to pages and reports within Dynamics NAV helping improve productivity. There is also a Delete User Tasks feature that can delete specific tasks or bulk delete if required.

Cancel or correct invoices

Cancel or correct actions have been enhanced by removing steps that complicated the process. In previous versions, if a mistake was made, a user had to open the Job Planning Lines page and add negative values for the lines to cancel. With NAV 2018, the Job Planning Lines are created automatically simplifying the process.

Dynamics 365 for Sales integration

Users can synchronise data such as sales orders and units of measure across the two apps meaning no more constant back and forth between the two, this also runs in the background. The integration removes manual intervention as sales orders are automatically transferred from Dynamics 365 for Sales to Dynamics NAV. Below lists some of the new functions the integration provides:

  • You no longer need to make a customer a contact before sending them a sales quote.
  • Contact profiling helps segment and classify contacts according to different profile attributes.
  • You can specify a salesperson/ purchaser code for user account and when a user creates a sales or purchase document.
