Columbus continues rapid growth with over 20 open vacancies

Global IT services company Columbus – headquartered out of Nottingham in the UK – are looking to add over 20 people to their already 200-strong team.

The technology industry is booming, and Columbus are keen to stay firmly at the front of new developments – revenue generated from their cloud computing projects has increased by 223% so far this year, and there are no signs of this slowing.

Mary Hunter, Managing Director of Columbus UK said, “We’re going through a rapid period of growth, helping businesses to digitally transform and take advantage of the latest technologies, such as cloud, the Internet of Things and data analytics with predictive insights. We need great people to help support our journey in these areas, as well as with ERP, CRM and ecommerce solutions.”

“We’re really keen to not only speak to those who are experienced in our industry and have held consultancy or management positions, but we’d also like to encourage those early in their technology career to get in touch. At Columbus, we hold training and development at high precedent, and we really want to help younger people pursue their successful careers in technology through our apprentice and graduate training schemes.”

Microsoft UK’s CEO, Cindy Rose recently commented that “technology companies have a responsibility to tackle the UK’s digital skills gap, [and to] nurture the creativity already embedded in the next generation.”

In a YouGov survey published last month, it was found that 67% of primary and secondary school teachers can’t teach coding because of a lack of “skills and teaching tools”, and just under 40% don’t have access to the right hardware and software.

Mary Hunter added, “During this skills shortage it’s vital that companies like Columbus offer their help and support the development of the next generation to strive towards the ‘hi-tech’ UK mentioned in the Chancellors recent budget announcement. We are already running a successful graduate scheme, and I’m excited to give my support in the education of children in STEM at an earlier stage too.”
